I love photography.  My father has been an avid photographer for as long as I remember.  By observing the ways he captured the world around him into the delicate and seemingly mysterious workings of lenses, shutters and film, I slowly developed my own eye and I realized my own love of photography.  So it is that through my own studies and experience, I bring my views of the world out into the open.

Besides photography, I've had a career in theatre spanning more than 25 years.  During my time as a director and choreographer here in NYC I have seen literally thousands of headshots come my way.  When a director, agent, or casting director receives a headshot, they expect to meet the person in the photo.  In more cases than you'd think, "someone else" walks through the door--and it's not simply haircolor or a change in weight; it's how they're made up, styled, lit, etc.  Whatever the difference, it's usually shocking.

To prevent that, in order to prepare for a shoot, my stylist and I talk with the client well in advance about what style and wardrobe they're comfortable in, as well as what sorts of roles they consider themselves to be right for.  If a client isn't comfortable wearing a particular outfit or being styled in a certain way, it comes through on the photo loud and clear.  A bubbly, all-American 21 year-old will never be brought in as a down-trodden 45 year-old, (or vice-versa--I've seen it all!) and no amount of styling or "costuming" will ever be sufficient for an honest photo.

This is the same simple approach I use for people (non-actors, I mean!) who would like portraits of themselves, their families, their children, even their pets.

At Geraci Photography, we aim to capture the soul of the person behind the photograph, and in so doing, no agent or casting director will ever be surprised as to who walks through the door.

And everyone who sees your family portrait or wedding photos will also see the love and life behind the people in the pictures.
